Extension Poultry Specialists address a number of educational issues affecting both the poultry industry and the citizens of Arkansas. The information presented on this web site is intended to augment those efforts. Without knowledge of the structure (anatomy) and function (physiology) of the bird it is very difficult to understand how conditions affect these animals. The information present here should assist those who want a deeper understanding of commercial poultry species.

Diseases are a constant threat to poultry. While it is important to seek the assistance of a veterinarian in serious disease outbreaks, early recognition of diseases can prevent spread. The information presented here will assist in the recognition of common poultry diseases so that diseases can be contained.

Many common questions exist with respect to poultry and poultry production. Although it is not possible or practical to address every poultry question that could be posed with respect to poultry, some of the more common questions and their answers are listed here.

Thousands of Arkansas young people learn about poultry via youth projects each year. The youth section is intended provide guidance and instruction for the successful completion of poultry projects.

Extension Poultry Science publishes a projection newsletter titled "Avian Advice" twice annually. Avian Advice is intended to provide growers, production personnel and Cooperative Extension Agents with current production information which will assist with the economical production of poultry in an environmentally friendly manner.
